MakerLab at CCYS by Exploring Senses

From September 2021 to April 2024, Exploring Senses teamed up with Crawley Community Youth Service (CCYS) to bring a burst of creativity, digital design, and community energy to local young people. Together, we launched a series of exciting projects that not only sparked imaginations but also taught valuable new skills!

Our first big project was the branding and artwork for Rock on Crawley (ROC) 2021, in partnership with Brighton Youth Centres' Bfest 2021. We helped young people design a winning logo for Crawley's 75th anniversary, created a range of funky T-shirts for ROC 2022, and put together a bold, eye-catching advertising campaign to promote the festival.

Over 300+ hands-on sessions at CCYS, we introduced young people (aged 8-16) to the world of digital arts—from 3D pen creations to Adobe software and Procreate design. Many of the participants started with no digital arts experience at all, but by the end, they were making incredible 3D artwork, animations, and T-shirt designs!

The best part? These amazing creations were displayed at Crawley Museum and The Hawth Arts Centre, with over 200 unique T-shirt designs produced. Along the way, the kids not only developed their digital skills but also boosted their confidence, collaborated with others, and got a chance to express themselves in new ways.

At Exploring Senses, we believe that art is a powerful tool to inspire and empower young people. Whether they’re creating digital masterpieces, learning new skills, or just having fun, we’re all about helping the next generation of creators find their voice!
