ELCAF by Nobrow

and Exploring Senses

Between 2014 and 2018, Exploring Senses artists brought an electrifying burst of creativity to ELCAF, offering a series of workshops that left festival-goers inspired and engaged. These sessions, ranging from Toy Hacking and 3D pen creations to Talking Pictures, 3D printing, and VR, provided a hands-on blend of art, technology, and imagination. Attendees could even take home exclusive Exploring Senses MakerLab merchandise, turning their festival moments into lasting memories.

ELCAF, the East London Comics & Arts Festival, was London's premier celebration of comics, illustration, sequential art, and storytelling. Founded by independent publisher Nobrow in 2012, it quickly became a key platform for showcasing innovative small press publications and the vibrant community of artists and collectives pushing the boundaries of these mediums. As comics and narrative illustration moved from niche to mainstream, ELCAF played a crucial role in bringing these groundbreaking works to an ever-growing audience.

At its peak, ELCAF was more vibrant than ever, offering an expansive lineup of talks, workshops, screenings, and masterclasses led by national and international talents. Sadly, despite its success and impact, the festival ceased to run post-COVID-19, marking the end of an era for London’s visual storytelling community.
