by Exploring Senses
Report on the Exploring Senses ‘Bfest25 Launch Film’ Animation Project
Overview:
This project brought together Exploring Senses artists and young people at Brighton Youth Centre to co-create a series of digital artworks and animations. These were developed into a short film commissioned to celebrate the launch of Bfest25 and the grand opening of the newly rebuilt Brighton Youth Centre. The project highlights youth creativity, collaboration, and the power of digital storytelling in community spaces.
Workshops:
The project was delivered through a series of creative workshops at Brighton Youth Centre, where young people explored animation, digital drawing, and experimental visual storytelling. Using tools such as Procreate, Dreams, and other creative platforms, participants developed original assets inspired by their ideas, experiences, and the energy of the newly revitalised centre. The sessions encouraged playful experimentation and collaborative making, supporting both beginners and more experienced young creatives.
Roles and Contributions:
Exploring Senses artists facilitated the workshops, guided creative development, and supported young people in translating their ideas into digital form. The artists then curated and edited the collected materials into a cohesive animated film, weaving together individual contributions into a shared visual narrative that reflects the spirit of Bfest25 and Brighton Youth Centre.
Community Engagement:
The project placed young people at the centre of the creative process, celebrating their voices and perspectives through digital art and animation. It strengthened connections between artists, youth workers, and the wider Brighton community, highlighting the importance of accessible creative opportunities within youth spaces.
